Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment
The NSW Government is investing $350 million to redevelop Canterbury Hospital in Campsie.
This is the biggest upgrade to Canterbury Hospital in more than 26 years and will deliver better health services for our growing and diverse local community.
A major upgrade for local health care
The redevelopment will deliver new and expanded hospital services, including:
- an expanded and enhanced Emergency Department
- a new and improved Intensive Care Unit
- new purpose-built adult inpatient accommodation
- additional surgical theatres
- expanded antenatal facilities
- more outpatient and ambulatory care capacity
- new diagnostic services
- improved pathology, pharmacy and hospital support services
- better access across the hospital campus, including wayfinding, outdoor spaces and landscaping
Canterbury Hospital serves one of the most multicultural communities in NSW, with more than 145 languages spoken across the local area. The redevelopment will help ensure patients, families, staff and carers have access to modern facilities that meet our community’s needs now and into the future.
Where the project is up to
The project is currently in the detailed design stage.
Early works planning has been lodged, and the main works planning application is expected to be submitted in mid-2026.
Community consultation will continue throughout the redevelopment, including through pop-up sessions, presentations, surveys, in-language information and consumer groups.
